Seattle's Gasworks Park always makes me think about how "bleeding edge" becomes yesterday's old technology. And because the gasworks was once a high tech fuel processing plant, the comparison of gas tanks to Easter Island statues or "moai" seems apt. After all, some Easter Islanders cut down their last tree for fuel or to move statues...
P.S. While painting in the park one summer morning in 2008, the sprinkler system came on, splattering the beginning of this painting -- as well as soaking me!
