In 2019 I had the opportunity to go backcountry skiing in Norway's Far North, the Lyngen Alps, about an hour east of Tromso. The beauty was astounding, with many phases of previous glaciation evident. While not as great in elevation as my beloved North Cascades, here the peaks and cliff faces plunge directly into salt water.
