I saw this huge pile of cargo containers on the banks of the Duwamish River on a summer evening. The repetition of the shapes and the colors from the different shipping companies were visually compelling. Intellectually, I felt the irony of seeing the boxes for all this stuff that came from across the 'great water' (Pacific Ocean) viewed from across the 'little water' (the Duwamish).
