Two of the largest paintings I've completed to date, done at the Banff Centre during my 2011 November-December residency there.
Recently we took the painting out to the snowy woods to photograph it wrapped around live trees, as if to say "what is the projected future of the tree? How does a painting of a burned tree contrast with an live still-healthy forest?" But the image also provokes a mysterious visual dialog between real and unreal, subtle and exaggerated, bark and the paper made from it...
