Painted after hiking at Harts Pass, North Cascades, Washington. This even-aged stand of young trees was burned in the Needle Creek fire a year before I saw them; their bark was in various stages of peeling off. The long straight verticals of their trunks contrasted with thousands of drooping white branches.
